Prepackaged Diets Are Definitely Not Going to Work

There are loads of pre-packaged fad diets which we are bombarded with every day. We see them in the newspapers, the tv and all over the internet. They are the Jenny Craigs, the Atkins the Nutrisystems of this world.

The claims are ridiculous – lose 30 pounds in a week by eating chocolate or other various pronouncements whereby you lose weight by sitting around. We all know these claims are impossible, but some folks can’t help themselves.

For these diets to work as they claim, you would have to go on a starvation diet, of a diet of no nutritional value for it to work. And the the interesting point is, a lot of the weight may be from muscle tissue as the digestive can consume your own body.

Diets that are per-packaged can mislead you in many different ways. As an example, Nutrisystem claims an average price per meal, but it is still eating out everyday. I don’t need to tell you that this always ends up costing you a fortune.

The cost per meal as advertised by Nutrisystem is around $3. For the women’s program, this increases to $7 per day or over $200 a month. And that’s for the base price which they can increase without notice.

Another miscalculation in time can also leave you with a dry credit card when you forget to cancel. Do you see those ads? Take a look at the bottom next time. The claims of losing 40 pounds (in the entire program) are not typical. They even say “Results not typical”.

So do not become a victim of these inflated claims as they are probably untrue or taking the example of the extreme cases who managed to lose a lot of weight, but are the exception. Of course it is possible to lose 40 pounds, but in most situations you will most likely lose less than a quarter of that. They do not promise you anything and blame you if the system does not work.

At this rate, for 40 pounds weight loss you’ll pay $800. This is not good for your finances. These deals must be carefully thought out before you commit, but generally they are all hype and bluster that will get you into debt. Most people who buy those products will either fail or have a lot of cash to spend. You cannot guarantee that you will be one of the few who will benefit from these programs.
