Do Vacuum Cleaners By Hoover Suck?

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

For many years the Hoover was the most popular brand sold in the United States, mainly because William Henry Hoover offered buyers to use the sweeper for 10 days before they purchase it. And after that, Hoover became a popular household brand: together with the appliance that is called a vacuum cleaner and the popular vacuum cleaner bags.

The bags for vacuum cleaners we are now using are introduced by Hoover company, which used them in their vacuums. Another factor that adds up to the scalability of this machine is its weight. The new machine weighed only 40 pounds, more than half of the original cleaners’ weight. Hoover vacuums made quite an impact in the UK since they were advertised with a slogan “It beats as it sweeps as it cleans” which was caused by the beater bar Hoover’s were sold with. Most upright vacuums are using this, because it increases the cleaning efficiency by a huge margin.

Throughout these 80 years, Hoover vacuums have gone to great changes and improvements in order to increase the removal of dirt from our homes. New designs in vacuum cleaner bags also helped cleaning efficiency. Since it was possible to dispose of the dirt and attach a new one, homeowners could finish their cleaning chores faster and easier. Just check the performances of TurboPower 2 vacuums or Vortex V2000.

It was Hoover Company that had the chance to make history, but they foolishly declined the proposal of James Dyson and his new, original vacuum cleaner design. Hoover announced that refusing Dyson’s proposal was their biggest mistake, since it was clear that his design was the best there is.

Recently people have found that the new HEPA vacuum cleaner bags have become much improved. These are great for all people who are looking for fast and easy way to get rid of the dirt that is being collected in their cleaning machine. Now you can clean your home faster than ever, if you use some of the Hoover products like Hoover TurboPower 2 vacuum cleaner or Hoover Vortex V2000 vacuum cleaner.

Many people, especially homeowners would argue that the invention of the vacuum cleaner was one of the top inventions of the 20th century. The Hoover was the first commercially successful vacuum cleaner that made cleaning less of a chore. I believe that this invention is something a lot of homeowners are thankful about.

Epoxy Floor And Bubbles – What To Do?

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

It is not so rare to see bubbles appear on epoxy coating. Bubbles are usually observed to be the size of a pinhead or more than an inch in diameter. You can find them in groups or scaterred around the floor. A phenomenon calle “out gassin” is what causes this. When the epoxy paint starts to dry, then this happens. The rise in temperature is the reason for the heating of the air in the concrete making it expand and form bubbles.

Application primer should be used to reduce the chance of bubble appearance. You should use a slower drill to mix the epoxy coating, and when you start to apply it, be sure there is no sunlight hitting directly on the surface you are working with.

Use medium roller if you already decided to use one. Use gentle and slow motions when you are applying your epoxy paint. This will be helpful in preventing bubbles from being formed in epoxy coatings.

You can use rotary scrubber ans some sandpaper to remove all those bubbles on your epoxy floor. First roughen the bubbled area with the sandpaper. And then get to dust cleaning. Use a rag dipped in solvent to clean the area you worked on. After this another coating can be applied. Another type of bubble observed is fisheyes. The silicone that remained on the surface is one of the reasons.

This can be cleaned by scrubbing the surface area with sandpaper of a medium grit. After this, scrupulously clean the area with a rag dipped in solvent. After this a fresh coating may be applied.

If there are bubbles in the entire epoxy flooring area then shot blasting or sand blasting may be considered. You will need to sand blast the entire area of epoxy coating first. Use acid to clean the entire area where problem appeared. In case you are working on a very small area, you can isolate it. You will need to repair the area first and the you will have to make a new coating.

Our epoxy floors can have bubbles due to another reason: moisture. To verify this break one of the blisters thus formed and see if there is any moisture inside.

How Can You Pick The Best Freezer?

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Our freezers are the silent workers in our homes. It operates year in and year out, requiring nothing other than a constant supply of electricity. Of course, it will need to be replaced in the future.

Now we will talk about some things that you are better informed of, so you can make the best decision.

First, we will talk about the size. Size of course depends on what you need. Generally though, most people purchase too large a freezer. They base their judgment upon perceived usages rather than real usage. And the story goes something like this: We will need a large freezers because of some special sale that will be at the grocery store. But the sad truth is that these freezers will end up being operated only half full.

Also, remember that all frozen foods should be consumed within six weeks. You food is bound to be dehydrated if you store it longer that that, and no wrapping will help it. Nutritional value and the food taste will be worst as the moisture is leaving the food. Anything that is stored more then a month and a half is considered wasted .

Just remember how many times did you have to throw some food because crystals started to appear. And the ice that is appearing inside the package is a sign of dehydration.

Although small chest freezers are efficient consumers of electricity they will definitely increase your electrical bill.

You will spend more electricity with a upright freezer. The reason for this are the opened doors that let the cold air out. It will have to be on more often in the future. Since the upright freezers are frost free, and most of them are, they consume more power then the older models. So we have to pay for the advantage of not having to defrost it.

You will have a beter choice in compact freezers since they do not waste so much electricity on cooling; the cold air stays inside the containers when the doors open. But chest freezers are manual and they need to defrosted at least once per year.

Most freezers are not somewhere where they can be seen so they do not have to look attractive. Neither do most consumers feel a necessity for them to have many options.
We usually see them as some large boxes where we store our food so we can use it later.

Recently though manufacturers like Frigidaire have been offering a few more options. Just go to the local store and you will find a freezers with built in alarms, frost free feature, push button controls, temperature display and quick freeze options.
