Is the thought of financial crisis troubling you?

No need to worry: inspire yourself with our list of 10 common dollar-gluttons and find a few alternatives to your daily spending.
1) Grocery shopping
If you want to avoid buying unnecessary items, don’t go shopping on empty stomach. Also have your shopping list ready. When shopping, always compare “price per ounce”. To find the cheapest alternative, you often have to search the bottom of the shelf. The most pricey item, on the other hand, will be displayed at your eyes hight.
Why would anyone willingly want to overspend on items that taste the very same, whether they cost $1.99 or $4.99?
Buy things that you need, not because they are cheap. Your shopping list should help you.
2) Bottled water
Is bottled water really necessary? There’s nothing wrong with tap water: just filter it and save! Sure: recycling all the plastic bottles is one way to go, but not creating the waste works even better.
3) Coffee
Do you need a shot of caffeine every morning? Most people do.But is your stop at that coffee shop really necessary? Invest $10 in a coffee pot and make your own coffee.
4) Snacks
Sure – 8 hours at work every day can’t be completed without some tasty snacks.
But snack does not automatically means chocolate. Try fruit and vegetable instead – it’s cheaper and healthier. Who knows – you might even lose some weight!
5) Movies & Cable
The last time I checked, a movie night for two was at least $20 including popcorn. If you don’t mind staying at home, switching to Netflix for $9 (unlimited viewing) is a much cheaper alternative.
But how many channels do you pay for? Hundreds? Does anyone watch them? As with anything, try to avoid paying for something you have no use for. If possible, pick those channels your family regularly watches and away with the rest.
6) Music
Are CDs still the #1 medium for you? Downloading music online doesn’t have to be illegal. Sign up with iTunes or Amazon and enjoy the price of 99c or less per song!
7) Phone
As possessing a cell phone is a necessity for most people, cell phone bills could become a burden just like any other bill. Don’t stay with your cell network provider only because of loyalty. If you find a better plan with another company, go for it. Also consider pay as you go.
Smoking
Have you heard of rolling tobacco? If you don’t plan on quitting smoking for good, rolling tobacco might be just what you need to decrease the cost of your habit. By letting the tobacco companies to roll your cigarettes, you are willingly paying up to 50% more than you would if you do it yourself. Now that’s a lot of money over the years!
9) Petrol
Although giving up your car altogether might not be an option for you, there are ways to save. Having pay for petrol is an annoyance, so why not find out the best price? Every cent off saves you thousands over the years. Therefore always check online before you make the purchase.
10) Credit cards
You probably heard that one already many times, but if you if you keep using your credit card for every day shopping and in the end find yourself unable to repay it on time, no money-saving tips will ever help you. Most people keep using their credit cards only out of a habit. Think differently: close all your credit card accounts except for one and live on what you make! Or do you really enjoy paying the interest rate every time you pay with that piece of plastic?
